Greetings ~
I've been building scale model cars since 1957. Back in the late 1990s, I owned a hobby shop in downtown Akron, Ohio. When I shut it down in 1999, I brought home the inventory and began selling it online. I sold most of the model kits that I had left over but kept a few for myself. Some of these kits were vintage and this is one of them.
This is the AMT 1:25th scale 1932 Ford Victoria 2-door sedan plastic kit of the car that 1930s gangster couple, Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow stole and used as a getaway car until Clyde wreaked it. The crash resulted in a fire that burned Bonnie's legs pretty badly.
The actual car was black or some other dark color and this kit is molded in black. I intend to take some liberties with it, one being changing the color. It will have dark green fenders and a cream colored body and accents. There's a few reasons why I am doing this. One, I am tired of painting model classic cars black. Two, I am building it as a '32 Ford and not as B & C's getaway car. And three, because it's my model and I'll do what I want with it...okay?! So, Now that we cleared that up.
This kit was manufactured back in 1962. The instruction sheet is pretty yellowed and the decals are no longer useable. The kit could be built one of three ways: stock, custom or racing. I am building this one stock. Why, It's my model...remember? Since the decals were for the racing version, I won't need them.
The box had a few tears in it so I am hoping that all of the parts are there. The parts are on their original parts trees and look complete. So, let's get started and see what we have here...
